Mugisha Muntu: If Museveni doesn’t pull back, we are yet to see the worst

Former Army Commander and Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) 2021 presidential candidate Gen. Mugisha Muntu has said that he’s not surprised by the manner in which things are done in Uganda especially during this election time.

Muntu says the regime is undertaking desperate measures to maintain power even when all signs show that the masses want change. He urges the regime, President Yoweri Museveni in specific to be able to read between the lines and stop exerting more pressure.

“I have a feeling that if the incumbent (Museveni) doesn’t pull back, I highly doubt we have seen the worst yet,” says Gen. Mugisha Muntu.

Muntu says that as ANT, their focus has always been to organize until their side is organized enough to overwhelm the regime.

“Our comfort is in the fact that change happens. It is inevitable,” he says.

On the Electoral Commission suspending campaigning meetings in 12 cities and districts including Kampala, Masaka, Mukono and Mbarara among others due to the surge in COVID-19 cases, Muntu says that they are ready to abide by the new rules.

“If we go into confrontation, all I get is publicity. I want to use my time productively. I will resort to using radio and TV,” he says.
