BESIGYE: Foreigners will not solve our problems

Four time presidential candidate Dr Kizza Besigye has said that it’s high time Ugandans collectively rise up and uniformally condemn the numerous unlawful acts committed by the regime.

Besigye says that it’s long overdue and the forces of change have remained disunited even when fighting for the common goal of liberating the country from ‘gun’ rule by the Museveni government.

The former Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) president believes that Ugandans must carry their own burden of liberating their country other than thinking that foreigners will do it for them.

“Foreigners will not solve our problems. We must solve it as Ugandans. We must turn up and say this is not acceptable,” Besigye says.

He adds that this must be a populous struggle where people are ready and prepared to say enough is enough.

“As long as we all don’t understand what the problem is, we will continue blaming each other,” he says.

On the ongoing electoral process and preparations, the opposition strongman asserts that from the beginning it was open that the election is not going to be free and fair and so the Electoral Commission boss Justice Simon Byabakama had to come out and tell government how it was impossible for him to organise a legitimate election in these COVID-19 times.

“This is some strange animal. Not an election provided for in our Constitution, ” he says.
