Striker Richard Basangwa has completed his move to Egyptian outfit, Wadi Degla Sporting Club, according to Vipers SC.

The youngster has signed a three-year contract with Wadi Degla, a club based in Cairo and playing in the Egyptian Second Division.

The development comes hours after his Uganda Hippos teammate Gavin Kizito joined Egyptian top-flight side Al Ittihad.

At the time of his release to North Africa, the youngster had been sent out for a loan extension at Uganda Premier League side, Gaddafi Modern FC, by VIpers.

Basangawa, who is a St Mary’s Secondary School Kitende product, was handed his senior debut with Vipers on December 16th, 2020, in a 2-1 win game against Kitara FC at the St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.

He was also a big pillar of the Uganda Hippos team that won the CECAFA U-20 tournament in Tanzania in 2020.

The same team went as far as reaching the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations final in Mauritania (2021), eventually losing to Ghana 2-0.
