Award-winning comedian Patrick Idringi Salvador praised veteran comedian Amooti Omubalanguzi, calling him an exceptional talent who has long gone unappreciated.

The self-described “Man from Ombookolo,” who is one of Uganda’s best comedy exports, said he always feels disgusted when he sees Amooti nominated for a local award in the category of best comedian alongside comics he feels shouldn’t be in the same category as the legend of the business.

“Amooti is a legend; he is supposed to be getting lifetime achievement awards for what he has done for the comedy industry because they opened doors for us,” said Salvador.

According to Salvador, if it were not for people like Amooti who opened the doors, the current breed of comedians would not have found it worth pursuing.

Salvado added that while he is also talented, Amooti will always reign supreme in Ugandan comedy.

For more than 20 years, Amooti and his Amarula Family group have produced a ton of funny skits.
