Diwali festival to light up Speke Resort Munyonyo

On Sunday October 27th, Speke Resort Munyonyo will once again host the colorful, lively, and immersive celebration of Diwali, the Indian festival of lights.


This event aims to bring the spirit of India to Uganda, offering a taste of its traditions, cuisine, and the joyous atmosphere that Diwali represents.


Diwali is a Hindu festival observed as a public holiday in various countries like Fiji, Mauritius, India, and Trinidad & Tobago. It’s estimated that over 100 million people, celebrate the festival, and in most places, the celebrations last for five days.

This year’s festival will be held at the Marina, bringing a slice of India to the heart of Uganda, with a rich and immersive cultural experience for attendees.


The event promises to offer a taste of Hindu traditions, a fusion of tastes, culture, and entertainment that will create a perfect joyous atmosphere that Diwali represents.


Gates will open at 12:30pm, and attendees should anticipate to be greeted with the tantalizing aroma of home-cooked Indian cuisine, offering everything from savory curries to sweet treats, all expertly prepared to give one the authentic taste of Indian culinary heritage.
 
The Diwali festival is a family event, and will have a dedicated Kids Corner, to ensure the children also participate in the festivities, with activities and games tailored just for them..

The event will have a Casino and Bar, to cater for those seeking to be entertained and wind down a bit. Guests will enjoy a fully stocked bar, with an assortment of drinks to quench their thirst, while those interested in gaming, will have a fun-filled day at the Casino.

And as has been the norm, after sunset, guests will enjoy a dazzling fireworks display at 7pm, adding an extra layer of excitement to the festival.


Diwali Festival is a celebration that marks the victory of light over darkness, good over evil, life over death, self-renewal, and knowledge over ignorance, and others.
