Uganda Cranes centre-back Elio Capradossi has officially signed with Romanian top-tier side Universitatea Cluj ahead of the 2025/26 season.
The 29-year-old defender completed his move after travelling to Vienna, Austria—where the club is currently holding its pre-season training camp—for medicals. He has signed a two-year contract with the Romanian outfit.
Capradossi joins as a free agent following the expiration of his contract with Italian Serie B side AS Cittadella on June 30.
Although he was previously linked with Romanian heavyweights CFR Cluj and Rapid București at the start of last season, Universitatea Cluj have now secured his signature.
Born in Uganda to a Congolese mother and Italian father, Capradossi represented Italy at various youth levels before switching allegiance to Uganda. He made his senior debut for the Uganda Cranes last year.
The experienced defender brings with him a wealth of experience from Italian football, having turned out for clubs including AS Roma, Bari, Spezia, Cagliari, SPAL, and Lecco.
Universitatea Cluj, officially known as Asociația Sportivă Fotbal Club Universitatea Cluj, is based in Cluj-Napoca and plays in Romania’s Liga I. The club enjoyed a strong campaign last season, finishing fourth in the league and earning a place in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Europa Conference League.
