Construction of Paradise Island Resort on Lake Victoria has reached its final phase, with about 95 per cent of the structural work completed, as developers shift focus to finishing touches, including the beach and leisure spaces.
The luxury resort, located roughly 20 minutes by speedboat from Speke Resort Munyonyo, is expected to become one of Uganda’s top exclusive destinations for honeymooners, leisure travellers and corporate groups seeking privacy and tranquillity.
Development of the island began on 1 May 2021 as part of efforts to strengthen both domestic and international tourism. The project is designed to offer guests a unique mix of natural beauty, modern comfort and seclusion on one of Lake Victoria’s scenic islands.
Paradise Island Resort is being developed under the leadership of Sheena Ruparelia, daughter of Ruparelia Group Chairman Dr Sudhir Ruparelia. Under her guidance, the island has been transformed into an eco-friendly, contemporary hospitality facility aimed at matching leading resorts in the region.
Initially, the project comprised 22 accommodation units. However, following increased demand projections, an additional 16 units were added in the second phase. The resort now features 10 Standard Cottages, 11 Standard Cliff Hanger Cottages with sweeping lake views, 14 Deluxe Two-Bedroom Cottages, and three Executive Villas designed for guests seeking maximum privacy and luxury.
The 19-acre island is neighboured by a rocky island covered with indigenous trees and home to diverse bird species, making it an added attraction for nature and bird-watching enthusiasts.
Once completed, Paradise Island Resort will join the Ruparelia Group’s portfolio of major hospitality developments, which includes Speke Resort Convention Centre, Kabira Country Club, Kingdom Hotel and Ssese Beach Resort, further cementing the group’s footprint in Uganda’s tourism sector.
