The Sino-Uganda Mbale Industrial Park is set for increased business activity following a partnership between Equity Bank Uganda and Tian Tang Group aimed at expanding access to finance and supporting the growth of enterprises within the industrial park.
Tian Tang Group has established a manufacturing ecosystem that supports more than 2,000 businesses and provides employment to about 15,000 Ugandans.
Under the partnership, Equity Bank Uganda will offer tailored financial solutions to businesses operating within the ecosystem. These will include working capital, business loans and corporate banking services to help enterprises increase production, purchase machinery and meet their day-to-day financial needs.
The partnership will also focus on improving the financial management skills of entrepreneurs and workers.
Equity Bank will provide financial literacy and business management training in areas such as cash-flow management, bookkeeping, financial discipline and corporate governance. The training is expected to help businesses maintain proper financial records, improve their ability to access formal credit and build stronger foundations for long-term growth.
The impact of the partnership is expected to go beyond businesses operating inside the industrial park.
As manufacturing activity increases, demand is also likely to grow for local suppliers, transporters, logistics firms, traders, construction companies, food businesses and other service providers in Mbale and neighbouring communities.
Laurent Zhang, Administrative Manager at Tian Tang Group, said stronger cooperation between manufacturers and financial institutions would be key to sustaining the growth of businesses.
“By strengthening this relationship, we can unlock the financial solutions needed to accelerate enterprise development and drive economic transformation,” he said.
Equity Bank Uganda Managing Director Gift Shoko said the partnership demonstrates the bank’s commitment to supporting businesses and individuals as Uganda advances its industrialisation agenda.
“This initiative is dedicated to transforming lives within the local community, which directly aligns with our core mission to champion socio-economic prosperity and sustainable development,” Mr Shoko said.
Equity Bank Uganda has more than 50 branches, over 9,000 agency banking outlets and more than 2,000 merchants across the country.
The partnership comes as Uganda continues to promote industrialisation, job creation and greater access to finance for businesses.
