He promised to take Ugandan music to the next level and that is what Bebe Cool tried to do at his Friends Of Bebe Cool concert at Kampala Serena Hotel on Friday night, and he didn’t disappoint.

Bebe Cool got onto stage at 8.30pm as the show had been planned, and he kept his fans entertained till shortly after midnight. He is an artist with a rich collection of music, so he could as well have gone until morning, but he chose to sing some of his old hits like Bogolako, Nkwagala, Kamungolo with Nandujja, Praise God with his manager Tikitah, and put in for time to perform songs off his recently released Go Mama album, climaxing the show with the runaway hit Love You Everyday.

The stage was world class thanks to Fenon Events who have perfected the art of marrying lights with captivating visuals. Their sound was also on point.

It was a full house attendance with a total of 50 VVIP and VIP tables that cost Shs5m and Shs2m respectively. These tables were occupied by tycoons like Dr Sudhir Ruparelia, Sir Gordon Wavamunno, who Bebe Cool credited for having bankrolled his first album, Godfrey Kirumira, Ham Kiggundu and his brother Haruna and other notable figures. The other tables were occupied by sponsors like Pepsi, MTN, SMS One, KFM, Sqoop and Media 24, plus musician friends.

In the VIP section, the drinks kept flowing thanks to Absolut Vodka and Pepsi.

Guests in the VIP section were also given copies of Bebe Cool’s latest album.

But one of the highlights of the night was Bebe Cool’s eight-year-old daughter Beata coming onto stage to play the piano. The performed to classical pieces and received a standing ovation as her proud father beamed.

“Wait when she becomes 10,” Bebe Cool said, noting that she is much better than last year when she picked interest in playing the piano.
