Chaka Demus, the other half of the Jamaican dancehall singing duo, Chaka Demus and Pliers, has admitted to Uganda being the best country he has ever performed in.

Chaka Demus, in a resurfaced interview with “World a Reggae” YouTube channel, admits that amongst the hundreds of places they have performed at, Uganda still remains their favorite.

The thousands of fans who stormed at the airport to welcome them and the way revelers at the concert sung to their songs word for word is something that will always remain ingrained in his memory about Uganda, which he says is “a special place to him.”

When asked by a journalist if there is a particular country or city that is always in his memory, Chaka is quick to mention Uganda.

When the interviewer probes further as to why Chaka feels that way, he reimagines the euphoric moment in which thousands of people flooded the airport to welcome the dancehall singing duo.

According to Chaka, the crowd sang most songs word for word and it overwhelmed him.

Chaka recalls having performed on a Saturday only to find his name on the front page of a Uganda Newspaper highlighting his performance.

Chaka further admitted that Uganda is a very special place to him.

Chaka’s feelings are not unique to him alone as it turns out, his singing partner shares the same sentiment.

In a recent YouTube interview, when Pliers was asked to name the most memorable country he has ever performed in, he mentioned Uganda with the second being Brazil.

Chaka Demus and Pliers are considered to be the biggest duo in the history of Dancehall music and Jamaican music at large.

The Duo performed for the very first time in Kampala in 1997.

It is the good energy and reception that revelers at the concert showed them that in the many years of their music careers, Uganda has been and will always be the word on their lips when they are asked to mention their favorite place to ever perform at.
