Three regional Miss Tourism Queens crowned ahead of grand finale

The search for Miss Tourism beauty queens has been conducted in different regions and over the weekend they crowned the finalists from the Buganda region, the Northern Region, and the Kigezi Region ahead of the grand finale at the Kampala Serena Hotel on September 23.

The Miss Tourism Uganda search made a stopover in the Central region, where the 18 beautiful ladies took part in the search for the Tourism Queen.

In attendance was the Nnabagereka of Buganda, Her Royal Highness Sylvia Nagginda.

The girls showcased their traditional Buganda wear, which includes a backcloth worn at the coronation and healing ceremonies, funerals, and cultural gatherings. They also had creative wear and also showed a skit about marriage.

The event saw all 18 beautiful ladies subjected to Q&A by the judges after showing their talents in what everyone can do, cultural wear, catwalks, and public expression, among others.

Nabulya Sydney Kavuma, 20 years old from Kyadondo, was crowned the winner of the region, while Namuyanja Nakato Rosely, aged 24 years from Busiro, and Namakula Allen Genevievi 19 years from Bugerere, were first and second runners-up, respectively.

In the northern region, Alaba Charity, aged 24 years from Dokolo, was the winner, 23-year-old Isabella Ayaa from Omoro was the first runner up; and Arach Mercy Wendy, aged 21 years, was the second runner up.

This year’s theme is “Rethinking Tourism” as Miss Tourism Uganda celebrates 10 years.

The platform has been promoting tourism awareness in Uganda through pageantry and several other initiatives such as conservation, cultural preservation, fashion, music, and art in partnership with the Uganda Wildlife Education Center (UWEC), Uganda Tourism Board (UTB), and the Ministry of Tourism.

During the launch, Miss Tourism Uganda management said this year’s events will focus on showcasing the achievements of Miss Tourism Uganda for the last 10 years.
