Singer Bebe Cool, whose real name is Moses Ssali, has stated that he is a vital and influential pillar in Uganda’s music industry, having been involved in almost every aspect for over two decades.

Speaking in an interview on the NBS After5 show, Bebe Cool said he has actively contributed to the industry’s growth since the 1990s and remains relevant and influential today. He noted that he has played a key role in shaping trends in fashion, sound, brand building, stunts, and showbiz, among other aspects.

“If I were removed from Uganda’s music industry, it would collapse,” Bebe Cool asserted.

Regarding his upcoming album, Break The Chains, from which he has already released two singles, Circumference and Motivation, Bebe Cool said he aims to create a clear path for Ugandan artists to reach a global audience. He stated that good music is the only way forward to take the industry to the global stage.

“Our industry has been stagnant for some time because we have no clear path to access international markets. For my album, we have a team of over 200 people from Uganda, the UK, Nigeria, South Africa, and the USA. We share ideas, and I am optimistic about the results,” he explained.

When asked why he never speaks negatively about Uganda, Bebe Cool responded, “I speak positively about Uganda not because bad things don’t happen, but because I want to promote my country.”
