Ugandan music star Eddy Kenzo has earned his second Grammy Award nomination, this time in the Best African Music Performance category for his song Hope and Love, featuring Swedish artist Mehran Matin.

The track, released just three months ago, has already drawn international recognition for its soulful fusion of Afrobeats and African pop rhythms. Despite modest streaming numbers — with about 12,000 views on YouTube — Hope and Love stood out for its artistic depth, originality, and strong emotional appeal.

Kenzo expressed heartfelt gratitude after the announcement, saying he was humbled by the recognition and thankful to God, his fans, and everyone who supports his musical journey.

“It’s about the uniqueness of the song. The Grammy Academy looks at quality — the melody, instrumentation, and originality — not popularity,” he explained.

The Recording Academy, which organises the Grammys, emphasises that nominations are based on artistic merit and technical excellence, rather than commercial performance.

This marks Kenzo’s second Grammy nomination, following his 2023 nod for Gimme Love, a collaboration with American artist Matt B. With Hope and Love, Kenzo joins a competitive field alongside global African music heavyweights such as Burna Boy, Davido, and Wizkid.
