The road to Kalagala Falls doesn’t just lead to a festival—it leads into a living, breathing celebration of Ugandan culture. As the river bends and the dust settles behind arriving revellers, the sound of Nyege Nyege rises in a steady roar, blending seamlessly with the thunder of the Nile. This year, the festival feels bigger, brighter, and unmistakably Ugandan.

Nyege Nyege marks a decade of pushing boundaries and redefining East African music, and the timing could not be more poetic. Uganda Waragi—another emblem of national pride—is celebrating 60 years of heritage. Their joint presence at this new site feels intentional, almost symbolic: two cultural giants honouring endurance, creativity, and a spirit that refuses to fade.

Kalagala Falls, hosting the festival for the first time, shapes the entire experience. Mist drifts across the grounds like a gentle welcome, and the wide landscape opens up into pockets of markets, stages, and scenic lookouts. Kayunga district is thriving with activity. Local vendors line the pathways, selling food, crafts, and warm smiles to thousands of excited visitors.

“There’s a beautiful alignment this year,” says Hillary Baguma, Brand Manager for Uganda Waragi. “As Uganda Waragi turns 60, we get to celebrate 10 years of the bold, innovative Nyege Nyege Festival. This isn’t just an event—it’s Uganda’s cultural heartbeat. We’re proud to be part of such a defining moment.”

Security teams are everywhere but never intrusive, creating a safe space where the only thing overflowing is excitement. Uganda Waragi’s signature booths—bright, inviting, and always packed—have become natural meeting points.

Their Premium Waragi and the flavoured editions flow freely, adding an easy, celebratory warmth to the crowds.

All around, people move in colourful waves—dancing, chatting, reconnecting. Strangers become friends over shared drinks. Music from every corner of the continent merges into one massive soundtrack: Amapiano bass lines, Gqom pulses, Afrobeat rhythms, Tekno synths, Uganda’s own Kadongo Kamu. It’s chaotic, soulful, and entirely magnetic.
