For nearly 25 years, Navio and The Mith have been at the centre of Uganda’s hip hop story.
From their early days as members of the groundbreaking rap group Klear Kut to their celebrated solo careers, the two artists have spent decades shaping not only Ugandan hip hop but also influencing the wider East African rap scene.
Now, after years of individual success, they have reunited for an ambitious project of their careers — a 14-track album titled GODLVL.

After listening to the project during its June 14 album listening session, one thing became immediately apparent: this is not a reunion driven by nostalgia. It is the product of two artists combining decades of experience, growth and musical maturity into one carefully crafted body of work.
A Journey Decades in the Making
When Klear Kut emerged in 2000, hip hop was still fighting for space in Uganda’s music industry. The group quickly established itself as a force, balancing lyrical excellence with commercial appeal.
Their debut album Mind, Body & Soul earned nominations at the prestigious Kora Awards when the members were still teenagers, signalling the arrival of a new generation of African rap talent.
Over the years, Navio and Mith went on to build highly successful solo careers, collectively winning more than 40 awards and performing across some of the world’s most respected stages.
Every tour, collaboration, battle and studio session seems to have contributed to what listeners now hear on GODLVL.
The album feels like a culmination of everything they have learned over more than two decades in music.

One of the album’s biggest strengths is its commitment to telling African stories through an African lens.
At a time when many rappers are heavily influenced by global trends, Navio and Mith stay firmly rooted in their identity, culture and experiences.
The result is a project that feels authentically African while maintaining the lyrical sophistication and production quality expected from world-class hip hop.
Rather than chasing international sounds, GODLVL embraces its origins and turns them into a strength.
This is the kind of album that could comfortably sit alongside major rap projects from anywhere in the world while remaining unmistakably African.
The album brings together an impressive lineup of established stars and emerging artists.
Veteran Tanzanian rapper AY Masta joins the duo on one of the album’s standout tracks, while Ugandan music icon Vampino adds his trademark energy to the project.
The legendary Afrigo Band and its celebrated frontman Moses Matovu also make appearances, creating a bridge between generations of Ugandan music.
Another surprise comes from Benon Mugumbya, who returns to the studio after a lengthy absence. He features on Influence, a track dedicated to the artists and mentors who helped shape Navio and Mith’s musical journey.

Alongside these household names, the album also shines a spotlight on a new generation of talent.
Artists such as Akeine, Izabel UG, Maritza, Ssensamba and Lukas Blacc inject fresh energy into the project, proving that Uganda’s musical future is in capable hands.
Their contributions add diversity to the album’s sound while complementing the veteran rappers’ experience.
Standout Moments
The album opens with GODLVL: Fellowship, a powerful introduction produced by Trigganomics.
The track immediately sets the tone, delivering confidence, ambition and lyrical sharpness from the opening bars.
It serves as a reminder of why Navio and Mith have remained among East Africa’s most respected rappers for so long.
The momentum continues with another high-energy record produced by Aethan featuring AY Masta and Vampino, creating one of the album’s most explosive moments.
Later, More offers a smoother and more melodic sound. Featuring Akeine and Maritza, the song blends sharp lyricism with mainstream appeal and appears destined to become a fan favourite.
Another intriguing record is Big 3, a song that invites multiple interpretations and is likely to spark debate among listeners. Its layered message and clever writing demonstrate the lyrical depth that runs throughout the project.
Production That Matches the Vision
A project of this scale demands exceptional production, and GODLVL delivers.
The album was recorded across multiple locations, including Icon Studios, Talent Africa Studios and the artists’ home studios in Rubaga and Ntinda.
The final sound was shaped by acclaimed producer and engineer Samurae, who handled mixing and mastering at TAG Studios.
His work gives the album a polished, cohesive sound that allows every verse, hook and instrumental to shine.
The attention to detail is evident from start to finish.
A New Benchmark?
Ugandan hip hop has produced several landmark albums over the years, including Navio’s Vibes Out The East (VOTE) and Mith’s The Ugandan.
Few expected that a joint project could surpass those achievements.
Yet GODLVL makes a compelling case.
The album combines lyrical maturity, storytelling, cultural relevance and elite production into a package that feels both timely and timeless.
