Speke Resort Munyonyo once again lived up to its reputation as one of Uganda’s top New Year’s Eve destinations, welcoming 2026 with an unforgettable night of music, fine dining and shared celebration by the lake.

The resort hosted guests across two main venues — the Pool Pavilion and the Nyanja/Lakes Restaurant — each offering a unique experience that blended smoothly into one memorable night.

At the Pool Pavilion, families and friends settled in early to enjoy a lavish buffet dinner, accompanied by a live band whose gentle music created a relaxed and cheerful atmosphere.

Laughter, conversation and photo moments filled the space as guests reflected on the year that was coming to an end.

As the countdown to midnight drew closer, excitement shifted towards the lakeside Nyanja Restaurant, where award-winning singer Sheebah Karungi was set to perform.

She took to the stage at 11:45pm and immediately energized the crowd with a powerful and well-paced performance. Fans sang along, danced and moved closer to the stage as she delivered hit after hit, guiding the audience straight into the new year.

Exactly at midnight, as 2026 began, the celebration reached its peak. Cheers, ululations and warm embraces filled the air as a stunning fireworks display lit up the sky above Lake Victoria.

Bright bursts of gold, red and silver reflected beautifully on the water, creating a magical moment that left both children and adults in awe. It was a powerful and emotional way to say goodbye to 2025 and welcome a hopeful new beginning.

Sheebah continued performing as the celebrations rolled on, with applause, dancing and excitement spreading across the poolside. Champagne bottles popped, phones captured the moment, and the resort echoed with joy and laughter. For many guests, the night was less about luxury and more about togetherness — sharing a rare moment of unity, happiness and optimism.

As the early hours of the morning approached, calm slowly returned to the resort. But for those who danced by the pool, counted down under fireworks and embraced loved ones at midnight, the night had already left a lasting impression. It marked both an ending and a fresh start, and reminded everyone that in Uganda, celebrations — like hope — are best shared.

Situated on a 90-acre property along the shores of Lake Victoria, Speke Resort Munyonyo is a five-star destination renowned for hosting major conferences, weddings and entertainment events.

The resort offers luxury accommodation, spa and fitness facilities, and a range of dining options, all set against stunning lake views.
