The 9th edition of the Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo (POATE) 2025 will be held at Speke Resort and Convention Centre in Munyonyo, from May 21 to 24, 2025.

The event, a key annual highlight on Uganda’s tourism calendar, aims to position the country as a must-visit global tourism destination.

This year’s POATE aims to attract 70 carefully selected international buyers, over 5,000 trade visitors, and a diverse array of exhibitors from across the globe.

The expo is expected to be a key platform for showcasing Uganda’s unique attractions and expanding its presence on the global tourism map.

During the event’s official launch on Wednesday, Doreen Katusiime, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities (MTWA), said that POATE is organized in partnership with several key tourism agencies, including- the Uganda Tourism Board, Uganda Wildlife Authority, Uganda Hotel and Tourism Training Institute, Uganda Wildlife Research and Training Institute, Uganda Museum, and the Uganda Wildlife Conservation Education Centre.

The 2025 edition will be centered around the theme “Tourism and Sustainable Transformation,” bringing together tourism stakeholders, international buyers, investors, and media representatives to experience Uganda’s diverse offerings.

The expo will feature both Business-to-Business (B2B) and Business-to-Consumer (B2C) sessions, providing valuable networking opportunities, fostering investments, and promoting collaborations within the industry.

In addition to the expo, the Ministry of Tourism also launched the “Tell Your Story – Explore Uganda” campaign. This initiative invites Ugandans to share their travel experiences through videos, photos, and written content.

Aimed at promoting domestic tourism, the campaign encourages citizens to highlight Uganda’s scenic landscapes and rich cultural heritage, inspiring others to explore the country’s hidden gems.
