UBA Uganda marked Africa Day with vibrant celebrations at its Head Office and branches across the country, highlighting the bank’s strong pan-African identity and commitment to promoting African culture, unity and diversity.

The celebrations brought together staff, senior management and board members, all dressed in traditional African attire inspired by Uganda’s heritage and cultures from across the continent. The colourful event was filled with cultural pride, unity and appreciation of Africa’s rich identity.

Observed every 25 May, Africa Day marks the founding of the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), now the African Union (AU). The day celebrates Africa’s progress, freedom and the continent’s vision for unity and sustainable development.

The event was attended by the Chairman of the Board of Directors at UBA Uganda, Mr Sebaggala Mustapha Kigozi, alongside board members, management and staff. He said the celebration was important in preserving African culture and strengthening unity among employees.

“Today, as we celebrate Africa Day, we join millions across our continent in reflecting on Africa’s rich heritage, remarkable resilience and immense potential. At UBA, Africa is not just where we operate, but who we are. We are proud to be an African institution connecting people, businesses and opportunities across the continent and beyond. Through innovation, excellence and collaboration, we continue to play our part in driving Africa’s economic transformation,” Mr Sebaggala said.

UBA Uganda Managing Director Mr Kenneth Kisambira said Africa Day reflects the bank’s identity as Africa’s Global Bank and showcases the continent’s resilience, diversity and growing influence worldwide.

As part of the celebrations, staff took part in cultural performances, fashion showcases and interactive activities, including group photo sessions to capture memories of the day.

UBA operates in 20 African countries and also has a presence in New York, London, Paris and Dubai. The bank says it remains committed to promoting African excellence, innovation, inclusion and economic growth while celebrating the continent’s journey and future aspirations.
