Six football fans have landed the ultimate matchday experience, securing all-expenses-paid trips to the UK to catch the English Premier League action live, courtesy of Guinness.

The winners are Brandon Semanda, Stephen Paul Anyaja, Bob Emmanuel Otim, Mark Buyondo, Tucker Kibirige and Malaika Nyanzi. They were announced at the Guinness Matchday watch party held on Sunday, October 11, at UICT Grounds in Nakawa. Each winner will travel with a plus-one for the Premier League experience.

The competition was open to all fans, with winners determined through a transparent quiz hosted by international sports commentator Andrew Kabura, who posed questions on the Premier League and Guinness.

Uganda Cranes legends Emmanuel Okwi (left) and Hassan Wasswa (right) were among those who joined the experience.

The contest unfolded in two rounds. The first took place at half-time during the Liverpool vs Manchester City match shown on giant screens. Fans who expressed interest answered a series of questions to qualify for the final. Eight contestants advanced to the knockout round after the game, where six emerged as winners.

Fans celebrate after winning tickets at the event.

“Wow! Just wow!” said Malaika Nyanzi, the only female winner. “I had simply come to watch the games, but when the opportunity to win a ticket to the Premier League was announced, I decided to give it a shot. I never imagined I would walk away a winner. I’m really looking forward to the experience in the UK.”

The ticket handover ceremony was graced by the United Kingdom’s High Commissioner to Uganda, Lisa Chesney, alongside Uganda Breweries Limited Managing Director Felicite Nson, who was joined by top executives from the company.

Denise Nazzinda, Senior Brand Manager at Uganda Breweries Limited, noted that the Premier League ticket giveaway is one of the ways Guinness is going EXTRA for football fans.

“These fans have followed the Premier League passionately for years. Through Guinness Matchday, we want to reward that loyalty by giving fans the chance to win tickets to watch the action live in the UK. It is our way of giving back to the fans who bring so much passion to the game and making their love for football count for something EXTRA,” she said.

Nazzinda added that four more tickets will be up for grabs at the next Guinness Matchday watch party, scheduled for this Monday, October 12, 2026, at The Villa in Bukoto.

The Guinness Matchday watch parties continue to draw football fans and prominent figures from Uganda’s sporting scene. Sunday’s event, which featured music performances by local sensations Lil Pazo and Kalifah Aganaga, attracted former Uganda Cranes stars Emmanuel Okwi and Hassan Wasswa, among other notable personalities.

Guinness, the Official Beer of the Premier League, continues to strengthen its connection with Ugandan football fans through Guinness Matchday and Guinness Matchday on Tour. Anchored in the Lovely Day for a Guinness campaign, with We Are Extra as its football expression, the brand is creating shared matchday moments that bring fans closer to the game and each other.
