Pepeta Bets Uganda has sponsored a community football tournament in Katanga, Kampala, providing 20 participating teams with football kits and balls, alongside a Shs20 million package to support the organisers.

The tournament, organised in partnership with the Daddy Kim Foundation, is scheduled to kick off on Monday, 9 November 2026, and aims to engage young people, nurture local football talent and promote community development through sport.

Each of the 20 teams has received a complete set of football uniforms and footballs to help them prepare for the competition. The additional Shs20 million package will support the organisers in running the tournament.

Pepeta Bets Uganda said its decision to support the initiative was driven by the need to give young people in Katanga opportunities to participate in organised sports and develop their abilities.

The company believes community football competitions can provide young people with constructive activities, keeping them engaged while promoting discipline, teamwork and healthy competition.

The tournament is also expected to provide a platform for emerging footballers to showcase their talent. With 20 teams competing, players will have an opportunity to attract the attention of coaches, scouts and other football stakeholders who could help them pursue opportunities in academies and professional clubs.

Beyond football, the competition is expected to bring residents together as families, friends and supporters turn up to cheer on their teams. The increased activity could also create business opportunities for small traders around the tournament venues.

The Daddy Kim Foundation, which works with young people in Katanga, is spearheading the initiative. Its partnership with Pepeta Bets Uganda is aimed at using sport to encourage positive engagement among young people and create opportunities for community participation.

Pepeta Bets Uganda said the sponsorship forms part of its efforts to support communities through initiatives that promote sports and youth development.

The company operates as a licensed sports betting and gaming platform in Uganda under the National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board.

Through the tournament, the organisers hope to give young footballers more than an opportunity to compete, but also a platform to build confidence, develop their skills and explore their potential in the sport.
