Gen David Sejusa is currently remanded to Luzira Prison, with one of his charges being that he is a serving soldier of the UPDF who is taking part in politics.
The General is charged for attending opposition leader Rtd Col. Dr. Kiiza Besigye’s nomination rally on November 4, 2015. At the same rally, the general asked supporters to vote for the FDC flag bearer in the upcoming elections.
But Sejusa and Besigye’s relationship goes back to their bush war days in the early 1980s. In fact when Sejusa who then went by the name Tinyefuza got married in 1987, Besigye was his best man.
Sejusa was to return the favour in 1999 and he was Besigye’s best man when he got married to Oxfam boss Winnie Byanyima.
