Red Women foundation, an organisation based in Nkumba along Entebbe road, recently embarked on a campaign to support people with cancer and save lives. Dubbed “Strong for cancer campaign”, the drive aims at creating awareness among Ugandans so that they can live a cancer free life.

In order to easily get their message across to youths, who are the majority of the population, the people behind the campaign announced the appointment of socialite and Touch FM radio host Nnalongo Judith Heard as the face and patron of the campaign.

Heard was unveiled to the media at a luncheon held at Arirang Restaurant on Saturday. The philanthropic Heard promised to reach out to all her friends and networks to be part of the campaign. “This is our time and we should look out for one another. It’s just the beginning; we shall reach out to more people and together we can help our brothers and sisters affected by cancer,” Heard said.

Swedish cosmetics company Oriflame, is the other partner on the campaign and according to Mrs Kiwanuka, one of the brains behind the campaign, the company was chosen because their products have been scientifically proven to be safe for use on skins.

The campaign will be officially launched on August 25 at Cayenne. It is aimed at encouraging people to go for cancer testing. The event will double as the first fundraiser. Entry to the event will be Shs50,000.
