I bought for friends and kept the bottle tops- Muslim wins TV in Bell Lager promotion, says he didn’t drink the beer

How does a Muslim win a prize in a beer promotion? Well it just happened in UBL’s ongoing Tubbaale promotion.




During the first handover of prizes including seven land titles, boda bodas and flat screen TVs, it turned out that one of the winners goes by the name Yusuf.

In the promotion, one buys a Bell Lager, Guiness or Tusker, checks under the crown and sends a the code via SMS  to 6050 stand a chance to win a prize.

When one of the winners mentioned his name as Yusuf, journalists were curious to know how a Muslim could win in a beer promotion yet his religion forbids consumption of alcohol.

“I just bought for my friends but I kept the bottle tops,” Yusuf explained.
