Uganda Cranes and Mamelodi Sundowns shot-stopper Denis Onyango bagged ABSA PSL Player of the month accolade after an extraordinary form since returning from injury.

Following the 2017 Afcon finals campaign with Cranes, the reigning African footballer of the year based in Africa winner rejoined Sundowns with a knee injury that kept him on the sidelines.

He returned from injury last month and his club had already played two games but has still emerged the best player of the month thanks to his impressive performance that secured five consecutive clean sheets in league games.  His form has also won in several ‘Man of the match’ awards.

The performance has enabled his side climb to second place on the log standings just three points behind top placed Bidvest Wits. With three games to go, Onyango’s side must win all its games and prays Bidvest slips in any way possible.
