Socialite Luckisha Val, a niece to Gareth Onyago’s lover Nickita Bachu, is battling a brain infection and has been in intensive care for months. And fellow socialites, friends and relatives recently teamed up in what they dubbed the #SaveLuckishaVal campaign, through which they have been able to fundraise up to Shs59m towards saving their loved one’s life. The team led by some of Luckisha’s close relatives was able to pull off a car wash fundraiser at Kololo gardens a few weeks ago. It’s from the fundraiser and reaching out to more people through different social media platforms that the group managed to raise the money.

What motorists should expect under the new Express Penalty System and speed limit reforms as speeding fines are harmonised to Shs160,000 and payment window extended to 28 days from 72 hours

“We topped up on the Shs59m and paid a Shs 64,9m outstanding bill at Case Clinic. We have since transfered Luckisha to Mulago hospital,” Sipate, one of the socialites involved in the campaign told us.

Although still in intensive care, friends say Luckisha has had some slight improvement.

“Several doctors keep checking on her. She can now move her feet and she also opened her eyes a few days ago. We’re grateful to God and everyone that has helped thus far,” a source told us.

However, the source said they still need a lot of financial assistance to get a specialist from USA who will diagnose Luckisha and advise on whether she is fit be transferred to a country with better facilities to help her back to life. Another barbecue fundraiser is underway to collect more funds towards saving Luckisha!
