Former Miss Uganda Praise Asiimwe Akankwasa enters Rukungiri District Woman MP race

Former Miss Uganda (2006) Praise Asiimwe Akankwasa is among the six women that have expressed interest in the vacant Rukungiri District Woman Member of Parliament seat.

The seat fell vacant after the Court of Appeal on March 22  nullified the election of Winfred Komuhangi Matsiko (NRM) following a petition by FDC’s Betty Muzanira claiming irregularities in the 2016 election.

The light skinned slender ambitious Asiimwe who is now in her early 30s also contested for the Miss World pageant in China in 2008.

She later put her years of modeling behind her and ventured in a number of jobs. She has since then been silent while at the same time involved in unclear scandals.

Hajjati Aisha Lubega,  the Electoral Commission Acting Chairperson announced mid this week that nominations  will be  held from 2nd to 3rd  May 2018 at the Rukungiri district headquarters while  the   by election  are  to be held  on May 31 .
