For a man that goes around masquerading as a moneybag around the country, you would think his name, Sipapa and the word debt cannot appear in the same sentence. Well think again.

Matooke Republic has learnt that although Sipapa, real name Olim Charles has successfully convinced a sizeable number of Ugandans that he has tonnes of money, the man is suffocating with debts and the matters are in court.

One court case that has been running for two years now is one where a one Eperu Benjamin, generator dealer in Kmapala is accusing Sipapa of defaulting on a debt of Shs12 million. Eperu told our reporter that he sold a generator worth Shs20 million in 2016 and Sipapa effected a down payment of Shs8 million and promised to pay the remainder as soon as possible.

Soon became later for Sipapa, and when Eperu realised that it was becoming never, he employed the services of Mungoma Richard of Murich Associates and dragged Sipapa to the High Court: Execution and Bailiffs Division so that he could be forced to pay.

“We served Sipapa court summons in 2017 and he has been dodging us ever since. We managed to get an arrest warrant last month, October 24. We want him to clear Eperu’s debt of Shs12 million plus the costs of the trial,” Mungoma told us.

He also said that Sipapa responded to them through his lawyers asking for a two weeks within which he will clear the debt.

Eperu, the man that is accusing Sipapa said that he has not yet consented on the two weeks grace period, because he feels that if Sipapa has managed to play hide and seek with them from 2016, he might just keep on with this game.

Eperu demands that Sipapa pays the whole sum he owes including compensation for his  (Eperu’s) time and money wasted while going back and forth to court with him.
