Miss Uganda, Hannah Karema has humorously revealed that her father did not watch her when she represented Uganda at the Miss World pageant because their village has no network.

Karema, who was born and raised in Kinoni village, Nakaseke district, said though she’s happy that many Ugandans showed her support while she was in India a week ago, she is somehow saddened that her father missed out on updates about his daughter’s representation on the Miss World stage.

“We have no network in our village (Kinoni). Imagine, up to now, my father does not know what happened when I went to India,” Karema humorously said.

Meanwhile, although Karema didn’t clinch the overall crown, which was won by Czech Republic’s Krystyna Pyszková, she made it to the top 8 and also secured the second position in Africa. She also won the Miss World Africa Beauty With A Purpose (BWAP) award.

Regarding her future plans, Karema says she still has her sights set on advocating for girls to pursue education and skills, as well as fighting child marriage.
