A video of an altercation between singer Douglas Mayanja and events promoter Nobat is making the rounds on social media. In the video, Weasel is seen raising his hand and seemingly slapping the promoter before they were separated.

After the video surfaced, a section of people quickly concluded that it’s the nature of the Mayanja brothers (Weasel, Jose Chameleone, and Pallaso) to always want to fight. We can’t dispute that, as they have all been involved in a series of fistfights over the years.

However, what really sparked off the altercation between Weasel and promoter Nobat? According to Weasel, the promoter has yet to pay him for his performance at the Memories of Goodlyfe concert, which happened about two weeks ago at Hotel Africana.

“I was the main artist, but I have not received payment yet despite the numerous reminders to the promoter,” says Weasel.

The singer further explains that when they bumped into each other on Tuesday evening, the promoter allegedly provoked him.

“Nobat provoked me today (Tuesday), adding insult to injury. It’s unacceptable that we’ve been left unpaid for our work. We deserve to be paid for our craft, just like any other professional,” he says.

On the other hand, the promoter admits that he’s yet to pay Weasel his balance of about Shs20 million but explains that he also demands money from the singer.

The promoter says that during the concert, Weasel and his wife, Teta, were in charge of selling tickets for the VVIP tables. He states that they sold out the tables worth Shs92 million, but they only gave him Shs12 million.

“We had agreed to share the money equally. But up to now, they are yet to send me my share,” he says.

Weasel vows that he’s ready and prepared to face any consequences, even if it means legal action.
