The newly appointed Senior Presidential Advisor on Creatives, Eddy Kenzo real name Edirisa Mussuza, has said that he is going to use the new position to positively help in the transformation of the creative industry.

Speaking in an interview, Kenzo said a section of people always downplays his usefulness, but that will not deter him from serving his nation and the arts sector in particular.

“Some people don’t value me, but I am very useful to this nation. In my journey, I avoided a lot of things, and finally, my sacrifices are paying off,” Kenzo said before thanking President Yoweri Museveni for spotting him among many Ugandans.

“The president is able to identify the different talents that can help him run the nation. I now happen to be one of those people,” he said.

Kenzo, who also doubles as the President of the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF), believes that his appointment is going to give hope to many young people who happen to come from humble backgrounds, particularly those from the ghetto.

He also sees his new role as an opportunity to address long-standing issues within the creative sector, which he feels have been neglected for far too long.

“Finally, the creatives have a window where we can channel our grievances because we have been neglected for a long time,” he said.

Kenzo joins a growing list of artists who have been appointed as presidential advisors. Mark Bugembe, aka Buchaman, is a presidential advisor on Ghetto Affairs, while Catherine Kusasira is a presidential advisor on Kampala Affairs.
