Outspoken Ugandan activist and academic Dr Stella Nyanzi, 51, is beaming with joy — she’s in love again!

After nearly two decades of raising her children alone, Nyanzi has gone public with her new relationship, introducing her partner, a middle-aged white man, to the world through a series of photos on social media.

Currently living in Germany as an asylum seeker, Nyanzi didn’t hold back in expressing her happiness, declaring her desire for a relationship that’s open, honest, and unapologetic.

“I was created to love & be loved. For me, it is best to be loved openly,” she wrote. “As I start the evening of my life, I refuse to have another love relationship that wants to be kept a secret. When I love, I love hard. I deserve to be loved as hard & as openly as I do. Let love bloom!”

Her road to this moment hasn’t been easy. For 18 years, Nyanzi navigated the challenges of single motherhood, raising a 20-year-old and 18-year-old twins after their father, Ousman, stayed in the UK when she returned to Uganda pregnant with the twins. To make ends meet, she worked around the world, often leaving her children in the care of her parents.

Reflecting on her journey, she wrote:

“All my adult life, I’ve had to be strong and provide for people in my care… Strength is not just biceps. Strength is willpower, character, stability, and leadership. Love gives me strength.”

For Nyanzi, this is more than romance — it’s a celebration of resilience, self-worth, and a love that refuses to hide.
