Jamaican dancehall star Konshens has hit back at critics questioning his love for East Africa, insisting that his connection to the region goes beyond concerts and money.
The singer, who is set to return to Uganda in December, took to social media to defend his long-standing relationship with East African fans, saying he has consistently supported the region and its artistes even when he is not performing there.
Konshens said some people were questioning the motives behind his affection for East Africa, but insisted that his support for the region had been evident for years on major stages and international platforms.
“I Big Up east Africa Year Round not just when im coming there!” he wrote, adding that he had repeatedly promoted the region long before his latest scheduled visit.
The dancehall star also challenged critics to name another artiste who had collaborated with and supported as many East African musicians as he had over the years.
To make his case, Konshens pointed to his collaborations and remixes with artistes from the region, including his favourite track, Gamululu featuring A Pass, and the remix of Backbencher by Toxic.
He also recalled the excitement surrounding the Figa remix featuring Ethic, which gained attention when DJ G Money played it.
According to Konshens, some of these collaborations were never officially released, but they demonstrated that his interest in East African music went beyond business.
“East Africa dont pay me the most, they LOVE me the Most and i was never ever shy about Loving them right back,” he wrote.
The singer also used the post to take a playful swipe at fans for overlooking one of his songs, suggesting that it deserved to become a hit.
Konshens has built a strong following in East Africa over the years, with Uganda among the countries he has visited several times for performances. He first performed in Uganda in 2012, returning in 2013, 2015 and 2023.
He is now preparing for another Kampala show, having been booked to headline the Vibe Republic concert at Lugogo Cricket Oval on Friday, December 11, 2026.
The upcoming performance will mark his fifth known appearance in Uganda and is expected to reunite him with fans who have followed his music over the years.
