BREAKING: Uganda confirms five new Coronavirus cases, including 8-month old baby

Uganda has confirmed five more coronavirus cases in the country. One of these is a 63-year-old Ugandan male, a resident of Najjanankumbi. He flew in from Germany and he is currently in quarantine.

The second case is a 57-year-old Ugandan male businessman of salt trade in Adjumani, he is currently admitted at Adjumani general hospital. He had not travelled before and has not been out of Uganda but does business at border crossing point between Uganda and South Sudan. There is no history of contact with people who had travelled.

A nother case is an eight-months old baby in Iganga. It’s father travelled from Kenya a week ago. There are also two Chinese who travelled from Guanzhou and another city in China, and these have been under quarantine.

They are part of six Chinese who tried to cross to DRC via Zombo district. Four tested negative and two tested positive.

According to Dr. Henry Mwebesa, Director General of Health Services in the Ministry of Health, the nine previous caseswho are in Entebbe Grade B Hospital are doing well. Dr Mwebesa also said that there are 2261 travellers identified as potential risk and of these, 764 are under institutional quarantine, 456 under self-quarantine. The 1431 high risk travellers have completed 14 days of mandatory quarantine.

These new confirmed cases take the total number of Coronavirus cases in Uganda to 14.
