Yesterday, the Ministry of Health confirmed 36 new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases from 2,230 tests. All the 36 confirmed cases are Ugandans of which 24 are truck drivers. Of these, 20 arrived via Elegu border point, two via Malaba, and one was from Lia Point of Entry in Arua. 12 cases are contacts to previously confirmed truck drivers.

The Ministry says that the contacts were under quarantine at the time of testing. This takes the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 317, with 69 recoveries and no deaths recorded yet.

The Ministry says that 26 positive foreign truck drivers were handed over to their country of origin and that samples from the community and alerts were 802. Ugandan truck drivers who test positive are immediately evacuated to hospitals.
