Uganda’s cumulative confirmed COVID-19 cases hit 1000 mark, recoveries rise to 908

Uganda’s cumulative confirmed COVID-19 cases have today hit 1000 mark after the ministry of health confirmed 23 new cases. Of the 23 confirmed cases, 12 are Ugandan nationals who recently returned from abroad; eight from Afghanistan, three from DRC and one from South Sudan.

Three are truck drivers who arrived via Mutukula, Afoji and Madi Opeyi points of entry while eight are contacts and alerts four from Tororo and the other are from Kyotera, Hoima, Luwero and Arua districts.

Additionally 31 trucker drivers from Kenya, Tanzania, DRC, Rwanda and South Sudan who tested positive for the virus were returned to their respective countries for treatment.

To date, Uganda has registered 908 with no single death related to COVID-19. This means only 92 active cases are undergoing treatment in various government hospitals countrywide and the health ministry says they’re all in stable condition.
