Mulago Hospital closed as a COVID-19 sample collection site ,only open to confirmed COVID-19 patients

With the current spike in the COVID-19 infections, the National Referral Hospital has closed it’s Covid -19 sample collection site to individuals.

“Mulago National Referral Hospital has been closed as a COVID-19 sample collection site for all individuals. Mulago NRH will remain an isolation and COVID-19 Treatment Unit ONLY for all patients who have been confirmed for COVID-19,” reads a statement from Health Ministry.

However, according to a story in the Observer today, Mulago is going to be a treatment centre for only VIPs and Members of Parliament.

“Mulago hospital is a treatment and isolation center. We don’t want patients moving in and meeting people dropping samples. It’s only VIPs, like MPs and ministers allowed to go there,” The Observer quoted the ministry of health spokesperson Ainebyoona Emmanuel.
