RB Leipzig and Austria midfielder Christoph Baumgartner has been awarded a Fair Play Diploma in recognition of his outstanding humanitarian work in Uganda.

Widely admired for his passion and discipline on the pitch, Baumgartner has quietly made an equally powerful impact off it — using his resources and influence to transform lives in rural Uganda.

Through his personal initiative, the 25-year-old footballer established a vocational training and learning centre in Kakule Village, Budaka district, Eastern Uganda, dedicated to empowering young women. The centre provides practical training in tailoring, entrepreneurship, and basic education, equipping women with vital skills for self-reliance and improved livelihoods.

Baumgartner’s commitment to education didn’t stop there. He also founded the Baumi Junior School, which now offers early childhood education to around 80 children aged 4 to 9. The school provides a safe and nurturing environment for children in a community where access to quality education remains limited.

In addition, the Austrian international spearheaded a clean water initiative aimed at rehabilitating 12 water wells across the region. This project has brought clean, safe water to over 35,000 people, reducing the spread of waterborne diseases and easing the burden on families who previously had to travel long distances to fetch water.
