Ugandans have found themselves entertained by the news of the government allocating Shs9.6 billion to train youths on how to drink coffee.

Following a committee meeting on Thursday, Members of Parliament demanded an explanation from the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) after the auditor general’s report revealed that several coffee shops established in Gulu, Lira, and Mbale did not actually exist.

According to the report, the contract for this unusual initiative was awarded to Inspire Africa (U) Limited. Out of the allocated funds, Shs3.831 billion was intended for training farmers in coffee production, Shs1.906 billion for teaching youths how to drink coffee, Shs2.652 billion for imparting business management skills to the youth, and Shs1.271 billion for project administration.
