Former Arsenal and Barcelona midfield maestro Cesc Fàbregas has stepped in to address a misattributed quote making waves on X (formerly Twitter).

The Spaniard was quick to refute claims from retired police officer Afande Asan Kasingye, who shared an eye-catching statement supposedly from Fàbregas comparing Chelsea’s rising star Cole Palmer to Arsenal’s sensation Bukayo Saka.

Kasingye’s post boldly stated:
“Cesc Fàbregas: ‘I assure you that Palmer cannot get a starting spot at any EPL top 6 club, except maybe Manchester United or Tottenham. Saka walks into every team in the universe. For me, this debate is irrelevant.’ Yes sir. Debate closed!”

The tweet sent fans into a frenzy, with debates quickly sparking about the accuracy of the comparison. But Fàbregas, renowned for his elegance both on and off the pitch, swiftly poured cold water on the conversation. Quoting Kasingye’s post, Fàbregas responded:

“The danger of social media is people really believe anything they read. No need to compare players, England are lucky to have two amazing talents, just enjoy them!”

In one sentence, the former Spain international called for an end to the endless online comparisons between players.

While acknowledging the talent of both Palmer and Saka, Fàbregas urged fans to appreciate the brilliance of these young stars rather than engaging in divisive debates.
