The situation in neighboring South Sudan continues to get critical, and the Uganda government has come out with ways to help rescue its citizens that are stuck in the now war-torn state.

Earlier today, President Museveni ordered UPDF troops to re-enter Southern Sudan in a bid to rescue Ugandan citizens.

But as the UPDF prepare to make their way into South Sudan, the Foreign Affairs Junior minister Henry Okello Oryem today swung in with yet another attempt aimed at helping Ugandan citizens establish easier communication with the Ugandan embassy in Juba.

Oryem this evening announced a hotline that Ugandan citizens can contact to seek consular services and support.

“The a hotline is +211928302044 and its available for calls, texts and whatsapp messages,” Oryem said.

The situation in Sudan continues to worsen after PresidentSalva Kiir and his deputy Riek Machar fell out again sparking off a state of war as combatants from both sides continue to engage in gun fire exchange.

The death toll in the volatile country stands at 300 lives lost so far, and suspicion is high that some Ugandans are among the dead.

Tension continues to be high amongst Ugandans doing business in Sudan and their relatives back home. However, with the establishment of a hotline, there is a possibility that Ugandan citizens will be able to communicate with the embassy and get help.
