Uganda National Examination Board (UNEB) has released Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) results for 2016.
 
The results show that boys performed better than girls this time round, with 541,089 or 87 per cent of boys passing compared to the 517,889(86.2 per cent) who passed in 2015.




Releasing the results, UNEB chairperson Prof Mary Okwakol said 63,400 candidates passed in Division One while 25,1787 passed in Division Two. She added that results of at least 1,886 candidates were withheld.
 
Fort Portal Municipality, Entebbe, Ntungamo, Rukungiri, Jinja, Kabale, Masaka, Mbarara, Lira, Masindi were best districts with a pass rate of more than 98 per cent. Serere, Namutumba, Bulabuli, Kyankwanzi, Iganga, Kaliro, Mayuge, Kween, Luuka, Buyende were worst performing districts.
