The search for twin baby separated at birth continues. If you were born in hospital, you might as well consider taking a DNA test in case you doubt your parents.Mulago National Referral Hospital has been ordered by High Court in Kampala to pay Shs 85 million in damages after losing a case in which a new born twin baby mysteriously went missing nearly three years ago.

Michael Mubangizi and Jennifer Musimenta dragged Mulago Hospital to court after one of their twin babies mysteriously went missing shortly after birth on March 12, 2012. The couple reported the incident to Mulago Police Post and the hospital later gave them a body of a baby saying that their baby had died.

However, the couple became suspicious and took the deceased for DNA only to confirm that the baby was not their biological child. Subsequently, the couple sued the hospital demanding to know the whereabouts of their baby dead or alive and has been battling the case ever since.

Presiding judge Lydia Mugambe Ssali took note of the psychological torture the couple claimed and ordered Mulago Hospital to pay 85 million in general damages. The judge however, declined the 300-million compensation the plaintiff had asked for sighting that it was on a higher side since they did not suffer cruel torture. The couple was comforted by the decision but added that they still want Mulago to deliver their baby dead or alive.

The plaintiff jointly with aid from Centre for Health, Human Rights and Development (CEHURD), claimed that the mortuary entries on the fateful day did not register any deceased baby by their (couple) names. The parents further claimed that incident has led to their mental torture and violated their right to parenthood.
