MUK lecturer Dr Stella Nyanzi to turn her today’s police appearance into a sanitary pad fund raising campaign

In case you did not know, Makerere University lecturer Dr Stella Nyanzi , she is  today expected to appear at police Criminal Investigations Directorate in Kibuli over offensive communication and cyber harassment.

She recently started a series of attacks aimed at the government for failure to honour its campaign pledge of delivering free sanitary pads to school girls countrywide.



Her campaign follows ministry of Education and sports declaration that government has no money to fulfill its promise of giving free pads to every girl child especially those in the rural areas.

According to Nyanzi’s Facebook post, she is willing to appear to court today not only to face police Nyanzi but also to turn lemon into lemonade. She  has an another agenda of raising sanitary pads and other menstrual hygiene products for the girls countrywide.

“I choose to mark my appearance at the CID head quarters in Kibuli in style. I am inviting all my friends and well wishers who promised to stand with me on Tuesday of this week, to come to Kibuli Police Station with clean sanitary pads and menstrual hygiene products. We are going to collect as many sanitary pads as possible, and we shall deliver them to rural-based students. We are our own liberation!” She posted on her official Facbook page.

She has also opened a gofund me page to crowd source funds for the initiative.
