The General Court Martial has today defended its action of transferring former Boda boda 2010 patron Abdalla Kitatta from Luzira prison to Makindye military police detention centre despite him being a civilian.

According to Lt.Gen. Andrew Guti, the army court chairman, the action was reached for Kitatta’s safety as he stated that; “He is there for his own safety. He knows what he has done to this world.”

Guti also played down claims from Kitatta’s lawyer Shaban Sanywa that his client was ill and needed health attention.  “The health facility we have (at Makindye) is excellent to handle his ailment,”Guti said.

The army court adjourned the matter to April 23 for trial to commence.
