Slain Arua Municipality Ibrahim Abiriga’s casket was taken to Parliament this morning as the August House held a special sitting. While some could have expected to be granted a chance to pay their last respects, we have been reliably informed that the casket will not be opened.

According to the dictates of Islam, the body was not opened for public viewing.

Also, it took special permission from the Mufti of Uganda to extend the burial to Monday. Due to the fallen legislator’s stature, the Mufti granted a special treatment to be accorded in handling the last journey.

Otherwise, he would have been buried on Saturday, as Islam dictates.
