Abuse of power by lecturers and administrators and the conducive environment at Makerere University has been outlined as one of the causes of sexual harassment of students at Makerere University. This was revealed in a sexual harassment investigation report handed over to the University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe after two months of investigations.

While Handing over the report, the investigations committee chairperson Prof. Sylvia Tamale called for a more strict policy on sexual harassment across all universities to curb the vice.

The report presented the findings and recommendations of the committee that was appointed by the Vice-Chancellor on 2nd March 208 to investigate sexual harassment at Makerere University.

This followed reports of numerous sexual harassment allegations of female students at the university by male lecturers with some still under investigation.
While handing over the report, the committee chairperson, Prof Sylvia Tamale said the study mainly centred around female students who are the main victims.

The Vice-Chancellor of Makerere University Prof Barnabas Nawangwe vowed to curb sexual harassment at the university.
Professor Nawangwe also cautioned lecturers who use authority to make female students submit to their sexual desires.
Professor Tamale, however, refuted allegations linking dressing of female students to sexual harassment
