Renowned scholar and activist, Dr. Stella Nyanzi, is spitting fire after a women’s protest scheduled for Saturday to express displeasure about the recent murders and kidnaps across the country was rejected by the Inspector General of Police, Martins Okoth Ochola.

In a letter dated June 26, 2018 addressed to the Chairperson, Women’s Protest Working Group, Ochola noted that the protest “cannot not be allowed to go on as scheduled.”

Ochola explained that the reasons for the demonstration had already been addressed both during the joint televised security briefing on June 11 and in President Museveni’s June 20 address to Parliament where he outlined a 10-point plan to curb the rampant crime in the country.

This however did not go down well with Stella Nyanzi who took to Facebook to express her disappointment in the IGP who took over from, Gen Kale Kayihura in March this year.

“Afande is clearly a spineless toothless impotent old dog with neither bark nor bite. He is totally bent over and beholden to the dictatorship raping Uganda, kidnapping women, raping females and murdering them when ransoms are not forthcoming, she wrote vowing the march will go on as planned.

Nyanzi who says she will meet Internal Affairs Minister, Gen Jeje Odongo over the matter added that kidnaps have continued regardless of the security brief and Museveni’s showcase in Parliament.

“In spite of dictator Museveni’s no-brainer of a performance in parliament, the news last evening was full of reports about the most recent kidnap. Regardless of the conferencing of security top-dogs parading for the public media, the kidnaps and murders of women and children in Uganda continue unabated.

“We are going to march this Saturday whether the police join us or they fight us, she noted.
