The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has congratulated JEEMA’s Asuman Basalirwa after trouncing their candidate, Eunice Namatende to win the Bugiri Municipality seat in Parliament.
Basalirwa beat FDC, NRM and two independent candidates to win the tightly contested seat.
FDC’s congratulatory message was carried in a tweet which read that, “The results from Bugiri Election show that the people of Bugiri have chosen Asuman Basalirwa as their new MP. We congratulate Basalirwa on his victory.”
It should be noted that FDC refused to withdraw their candidate from the race in favour of Basalirwa at the beginning of the race.
