Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) President, Patrick Amuriat Oboi has made changes in the top leadership of the party knifing Winfred Kiiza, the Kasese Woman MP as Leader of Opposition in Parliament.

Kiiza was replaced by Gulu Municipality MP, Betty Ochan. In other changes, Bugweri County MP, lawyer Abdul Katuntu has also been replaced with former Kawempe Mayor cum MP Mubarak Munyagwa as the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Commissions, Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises (COSASE).

Munyagwa will be deputised by Hon. Moses Kasibante. Ibrahim Semujju Nganda has been maintained at the Opposition Chief Whip while Buhweju County MP, Francis Mwijukye will henceforth be the commissioner of Parliament replacing Hon. Cecilia Ogwal.

Other notable appointments are Fungaroo Hassan who is now the Committee Chairperson of Government Assurance while Hon. Nandala Mafabi is, once again, the chairman of the Parliamentary Public Accounts Committee.

Analysts say the reshuffle was anticipated since Amuriat took office in November last year.

“It is only Semujju Nganda who was pro-Muntu and has remained. This is the division we always talk about in the opposition. Some thoughtful and sober people have been dropped and replaced with hotheads,” Veteran Journalist, Andrew Mwenda said.
