The situation in Arua is still fluid as police, military and UPDF have taken over the town. News reaching us from West Nile indicate that Hon Francis Zaake, the Mityana Municipality MP, and Bobi Wine’s elder brother, Fred ‘Chairman’ Nyanzi have been admitted at Arua Regional Referral Hospital with severe injuries on the heads.

Although NTV Journalists, Herbert Zziwa and cameraman Ronald Muwanga have been released on police bond, the whereabouts of Kyadondo East Member of Parliament, Robert Kyagulanyi remain a mystery.

His official photographer who goes by the moniker TabzKuKamera on social media claims that his boss was airlifted to another location but he suspects it is either Bombo Military Barracks or Entebbe.

“I only can confirm his arrest that was executed by 6 police officers and scores of SFC men in uniform and others in plain clothes,” he said before adding that, “Police officers have broken into all vehicles at Arua Pacific hotel’s parking lot suspected to belong to any of associates of Bobi Wine and took away with everything they’ve found. They’ve also deflated all the car tyres. A total of 5 cars have been vandalised.”

Other MPs such as Hon Gerald Karuhanga, Mwijukye Francis, are still at Arua Central Police Station.

In Kampala, the Uganda Police has transferred Abbas Ssenyonjo, the DPC of Arua who commanded last night’s operation to Masaka hardly 24-hours after Bobi Wine’s driver was shot dead following an alleged attack on the presidential motorcade.

Independent Candidate Kassiano Wadri is set to miss the by-election tomorrow as he too, is still in police custody.

According to Police Spokesperson Emilian Kayima, the police is ready to secure the Arua by-election that the Electoral Commision says will go ahead unfettered tomorrow.

The Minister for Internal Affairs, Gen Jeje Odongo told Parliament that,“Hon. Kyagulanyi and his colleagues attacked the presidential convoy which attracted security organs to intervene. Mr. Yasin was reported to have succumbed to a gunshot and his body was in Arua hospital for postmortem.”

In related news, former FDC party president Gen. Mugisha Muntu will be subjected to disciplinary action over backing an independent candidate, Kasiano Wadri in the Arua Municipality by-election according to sources from Najjanankumbi.
